Damn, Gina

Josh sent me this link late last night, and I’ve listened to it on repeat since. This song always reminds me of my dad, and the first time he came to visit me after I’d moved to New York. We spent one cold afternoon at the Met, and then came home and had two bottles of wine and chips for dinner and listened to records. He asked me about my love life and I told him that the guy I was hung up on didn’t love me back anymore and had told me that he wanted to become a mortician. My dad snorted and said, “What kind of person says something like that to someone who loves them?” Then he leaned back against the wall and sang along to this with his eyes closed, smiling, and I felt a lot better about that guy.

I miss my dad a lot today.
